The War in Israel
Israel has suffered one of the most horrible and painful events in Jewish history. The heinous, barbaric terrorist attack by Hamas during Shabbat and Shemini Atzeret/Simchat Torah killed more than 1400 people (men, women, and children – even infants) including 30 American citizens. As we know, thousands of Israelis were injured and 150 were taken hostage into Gaza. There are simply no words that can express the grief we are feeling for each of the victims, their loved ones and for all of Israel. Our hearts break for each victim of the brutality and violence in Israel as the number of those killed and injured continues to rise.
To aid the thousands of families affected by this catastrophe and to fund the extensive rebuilding and rehabilitation that will be required, Jewish Federations of North America has partnered with the Union of Reform Judaism and announced a $500 million emergency campaign. This special campaign is called, “Swords of Iron.” Emergency assistance for victims of terror include critically needed trauma counseling, care for children in shelters, supplies for hospitals and funds to relocate people to safer areas. The needs are without precedent and are mounting every day.
You can easily donate to the “Swords of Iron” emergency campaign using the secure form on this page.
